"Memories in Color" Project presented by Dept. of Modern Languages

Through art and the symbol of home, the MemoriesinColor project in Colombia brings broken communities into dialogue about the trauma of armed conflict and shared values and hopes. The art pieces for the exhibit are approx. 25 miniature houses crafted by Colombian artists, ex-combatants, and survivors of trauma. The houses have been displayed in many galleries in Colombia and also at the Latin American Art Museum of Buenos Aires (MALBA). With grant funding from the Center for Engagement and Community Development, we will be bringing the inspiring founder of this project, Edwin Rodríguez, to campus in October to interact with students and community members in a series of events related to this transformative peace and reconciliation initiative.
