Scholarship for Incoming Freshman and Transfer Students

There are scholarships available for incoming freshmen and transfer students in Department of Art and will be awarded through portfolio review. Awards are competitive and range from $250.00 to $1,500.00 based on merit of the applications and availability of funds.

Application opens February 10th.

Requirements to apply

  • Overall GPA above 2.0

  • Must be enrolled in KSU Art courses as an art major for the following fall semester to receive scholarship.

Important Dates for Fall 2023 Application

  • March 15: Application Deadline. Incomplete or late submissions will not be considered.

  • April 7-11: Announcement of scholarship award winners.

  • April 8 - May 1 : Scholarship students accept the award in KSN. ( Detailed instructions for New/Incoming Students.)

Beginning of Fall 2023 Semester

  • Dates TBA: Announcement of scholarship award winners.
  • Dates TBA: Scholarship award winners assist with exhibition installation.
  • Dates TBA: Scholarship award winners assist with exhibition removal, retreive works.

What you need to complete this application

  1. PDF file of the most recent unofficial transcript:

    • Name of file: your full name_transcript
      Example: JohnSmith_transcript.pdf
  2. Digital images of your work.

    • You can submit 1-3 works, 1-2 images per work.
    • Images must be JPEG, 1600 – 2000 pixels for the longer side.
    • Name of image files: Your last name_work number. Add “_detail” for the second image.
      Example: Smith_1.jpg, Smith_1_detail.jpg, Smith_2.jpg,...
    • All images must be combined into ONE ZIP file of maximum 10 MB.
    • Name of zip file: your full name.
      Example: JohnSmith.zip
  3. Information for each work: title, medium, size

  4. For video/animation, please upload to Vimeo or YouTube and provide a link.

Award Disbursal

Most awards will be applied in equal parts across the two semesters of the upcoming academic year. (Half disbursed in the upcoming Fall semester, and half in the following Spring)
