Willie the Wildcat

What Art Ambassadors do:

  • Meet with prospective students and give tours of Willard Hall
  • Assist with events including: Open House, Admitted Wildcat Days, and PowerCat Preview
  • Serve as a peer advisor to new Art students
  • Take photographs and assist with social media

Major: BFA Visual Communication Design, BA Spanish

Advice for a new student: Don't be afraid to try something new! Take advantage of the many clubs and on campus events throughout the school year to spark new interests and connect with other students and faculty.

Fun fact: I grew up dancing and was a dance teacher for two years!

Advice for a new student: Join clubs! It’s the best way to meet new people with common interests!

Advice for a new student: Say yes to as many opportunities as you can. Your freshman year will be full of new people and new experiences, you never know where saying yes might lead you!

Fun fact: I share a birthday with Freddie Mercury and Jesse James.

Advice for a new student: Definitely take advantage of all the fun events and opportunities, but if you feel like you need a break don't stress over passing on something in exchange for some time to recharge. Balance is important!

Fun fact: I have had over 30 hobbies, most of them creative! I've tried everything from costume crafting to cake decorating to game development, and I always have some sort of project in progress!

Advice for a new student: Pursue what gives you the most joy. If you aren't enjoying something then make a change!

Advice for a new student: It's ok to branch out and be uncomfortable, doing things we don't normally do gets us to see and experience things we wouldn't have seen or experienced otherwise.

Fun fact: I'm a collector. I have a variety of collections like enamel pins, mugs, fun colored dish-ware, those holiday birds from target, among some other things.

Advice for a new student: Reach out to the people around you! Whether it's a question for a teacher or for advice from a friend, don't be afraid of asking for help. People at K-State are always willing to help you, so feel free to ask about anything!

Fun fact: I have a twin sister! Her name is Kaylee and she attends Mizzou.

Advice for a new student: Get as involved as you can! There are a ton of clubs for every interest you may have no matter how strange.

Fun fact: I still watch Minecraft videos in my free time.

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in a BA or BFA degree in the Department of Art
  • Completed at least one semester of Art coursework at K-State
  • Enthusiastic about Art and Design and K-State
  • Good communication skills
  • Ready to positively represent the Art Department with your own experiences to a wide variety of people

Commitment:

  • Estimated 10 hours of service over the course of a semester
  • Availability for giving tours during the week and occasional evening/weekend meetings or events
  • 1-year service
