Rebecca Allen is a sculptor from Rochester, NY currently in her second year as a graduate student at Kansas State University. She has studied at Pratt MWP, Tyler School of Art, and received her BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology in 2015. Rebecca works with stone, cast metal, and found objects to create quilts that explore female narratives.
My current work is an exploration into female identity through pattern and quilts from the Westward movement. My quilts explore the idea of a woman outside of domestic space and New England materialism. By comparing and contrasting the relationships between myself and my mother and grandmother I am trying to find my own identity as a single woman in the Midwest.
